When We Grieve
We need so much.
We need silent criers and loud criers, single tears and endless tears.
We need open hearts to give love and broken hearts to absorb love.
We need bold mouths to deliver orders and receptive ears to receive them.
We need helping hands to reach out to people and welcoming hands to pull people in.
We need the brawn to physically set up a memorial and the brains to poetically add soul.
We need the jokester’s wit to provide levity in the darkest of times and the stoic’s grit to provide the calm.
We need the thinkers to dot the I’s and cross the T’s and the doers to cross off the to dos.
We need our youth to remind us of hope and innocence and elders to model strength and experience.
We need those in the realm beyond to invisibly wrap their arms around us and keep nudging us forward.
We need every individual to feel held by the entire community and the entire community to cradle the most fragile individuals.
We need all types.
We need you.

Oh, this speaks to my heart and my lived experience. Thank you for sharing and for being welcoming hands to pull me in last week. 🩷
So so beautifully put and so needed right now. Thank you.
