The Friday Five
Challenges, books, photos and hilarity all wrapped up in this week's Friday Five.
My Latest Passion Project: The Kids Closet - a free clothing fair powered by volunteers and filled by clothing donations from local communities benefitting students in San Rafael and beyond. Want to help our cause? Yes? I knew I liked you.
Local friend challenge: Edit your kids’ closets to help us fill this one! Donate clothes (size 5T-16) in excellent condition (to me), dollars or time!
Distant friend challenge: Donate dollars to help us purchase uniforms and shoes giving students a fresh look for their fresh school year. (Consider it a charitable way of supporting my writing, perhaps.)

Creativity Challenge(d): Feeling stuck? Raises hand. Join me in this free, five-day NY Times creativity challenge starting Monday. The experts say, “As you practice creativity, your brain becomes more limber. You become more open-minded and curious. Your mood lifts.” More limber, open-minded and curious? I’m in.
The Tell (All) - This deeply personal memoir punched me in the gut while at the same time opened my mind to the powers of psychedelics. As the daughter of a Vietnam vet who I am certain witnessed unimaginable scenes, I can’t help but wonder how this therapy could have helped my dad process and heal.
On a Lighter Note. A friend convinced me to change my iPhone wallpaper to Photo Shuffle. The result - chuckles from Grant’s no-neck phase and deeper laughter knowing what happened right before this picture. I’ll save you a “how to” search: Settings > Wallpaper > Add New Wallpaper > Photo Shuffle.
An Even Lighter Note.
That’s a wrap on another week, and for some of you, another school year. Ewph. I’m not mentally or emotionally able to write about the latter - yet - as my oldest baby gets ready to launch to high school. I’m having more feels about transitioning to something new than I am about being done with the old. Probably should write about it because if I’m feeling it, I’m sure some of you are, too. Like my beloved Golden State Warriors say, “Strength in numbers.”
Make it a great weekend-
Laura
